The Idea

There are too many houses in Austin that are being demolished because of a lack of vision about what they could become and the inherit value of these structures.  It is with Square House Building’s first transformation that we intend to show Austin how our inventive system can save these homes and make them into comfortably livable spaces.  Houses that function the way the modern couple or family lives.  Updated floor plans and mechanical systems exist without damaging the unique charm of the original house.

The other idea at Square House Building concerns the next generation of building.  Using Prefab Modules designed by architect Lou Kimball, we will be able to offer a house that is better built then a site house, produces less waste in the process, and can be delivered in a much shortened time frame.  Through clever design, this same house can also be site specific and have the appearance that would suit the new modernist or the old Texas rancher.  Also, because of savings in the construction process, these homes can offer features usually reserved for higher end custom homes.  Energy saving appliances, high R-value building envelope, and possibly even solar panels for electrical generation and hot water can be included.
